Sustainability is not only close to our hearts - it is part of our DNA.

Sustainability is not a trend, but an attitude - and a promise to the next generation. As a family-run hotel, we take responsibility for the environment, society and the economy. We regularly check how we can save energy and water, improve processes and conserve resources - without compromising on comfort.

From modern LED lighting and motion detectors to the deliberate avoidance of minibars and refillable dispensers in the rooms - we focus on smart solutions instead of waste. Our hotel is powered 100% by green electricity from Göttingen hydropower, heated by a solar system on the roof and a combined heat and power plant in the basement.

Sustainably thought - sustainably done

We regularly modernise our technology, use large containers instead of disposable packaging as far as possible, consistently separate waste and constantly scrutinise existing processes. In 2020, we also successfully took part in a certified energy audit in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 - another step towards greater efficiency and transparency.

Act consciously - for tomorrow.

For us, sustainability does not end at the hotel door. We are actively involved in environmental organisations such as NABU, BUND, WWF and Greenpeace and are part of the energy efficiency corporate network.

Our contribution to sustainability

Energy efficiency & resource conservation

In line with the motto "The best energy is the energy you don't use", we use modern, energy-saving technology throughout the hotel. LED lighting, motion detectors, water flow limiters and the deliberate avoidance of minibars help us to use electricity and water efficiently. We obtain 100% of our electricity from local hydropower, while heat is supplied by solar panels and a combined heat and power plant.

Sustainable operation & continuous improvement

Sustainability is not a project, but a process. That's why we regularly check all processes in the hotel for potential savings and also seek external advice - for example through the energy audit carried out by the Göttingen Energy Agency. In this way, we ensure that we only consume as much energy as is really necessary and that our technology is always up to date.

Environmentally conscious behaviour in everyday life

Small decisions make all the difference: we avoid waste wherever possible and use refill dispensers instead of disposable packaging. Cosmetic tissues and unnecessary wash cycles are a thing of the past for us. What we do produce is consistently separated and recycled.

Regional & fair partnerships

We buy with heart and mind and regularly scrutinise our supply chains: most of our food comes from the region - from partners we know personally. Juices from regional wine press houses and spirits from our own family production. Short distances, transparent origins and quality you can taste.
